THE FIRST LINE OF ATTACK:
FIRE BREAKS SURROUNDING YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
While we can’t stop the fires from coming up to our communities, we can stop them from devastating our neighborhoods
Redwood Fire Protection was created to help communities protect themselves from oncoming fire with state of the art solutions custom built for HOAs and community infrastuctures. Utilizing advanced technologies like Fire Pathways® simulations, we identify potential routes for wind-driven fires and prioritize our Komodo® fire retardant annual treatment plans to stop fires in their tracks. Redwood Fire Protection has worked hand in hand with Komodo in developing the technology and the tools to applying the world’s only environmentally friendly USDA and Forest Service approved material effectively and safely – keeping entire communities safe from the threat of wildfire.
Comprehensive Property Assessment & Home Hardening
As we have learned in recent fires, fire breaks, no matter how effective, are not enough in protecting communities. Embers can be carried by the wind for miles. To provide complete protection, we go beyond perimeter protection, and offer HOA members with Property Assessments that focus on home hardening. With a detailed 130-point analysis, our experts offer actionable advice on creating defensible space and enhancing fire resistance for each homeowner in the HOA. Implementing these strategies community-wide not only enhances safety but can also earn the coveted “Wildfire Prepared Home” designations, a recognized standard within the insurance industry. Our team at Redwood Fire Prevention is certified in wildfire mitigation, offering expert guidance and services to ensure your property is ready and defensible against wildfires.
Our 3 Step Process
Step 1: Wildfire Risk Assessment
In order to keep your community as safe as possible from wildfire, knowledge is king. At Redwood Fire Prevention, we provide an annual analysis to determine of the most effective course of action to reduce wildfire risk even reaching your neighborhood.
In a study of wildfire behavior in the Wildland Urban Interface, it was found that "wind-driven fires were three times as likely to be associated with a fatality and and twice as likely to produce structure loss than other fires."
Our Fire Pathways™ simulation identifies the routes that bring the values at risk during a wind driven event in the shortest amount of time.
Our assessment takes into account Weather Parameters, Fuel and Topography data, and upwind Fire Ignition. We then use an optimization algorithm to define and prioritize treatment to slow any potential fire threat.
The recommended fuel treatment areas are outlined in teal on top of the Fire Pathways that they will delay. The green shaded areas show the decrease in wildfire progression time with the fuel treatments executed.
Our property assessment is a comprehensive 130 point analysis of a client's home and surrounding property, resulting in a detailed report as well as comprehensive advice on home hardening and defensible space.
Step 2: Property Assessment
Slowing the spread of wildfire in the surrounding areas is but the first step in protection from the rapid spread of wildfire. Home hardening is critical in keeping fast-moving fires from taking hold of individual properties and putting neighborhoods at risk. Our home wildfire mitigation assessment is the second step in property defense.
This assessment is based on wildfire mitigation protocols from CAL FIRE, NFPA, IBHS and the California State Fire Marshal's Office. Following the protocols within the assessment we will assist homeowners improve their home's readiness should a fire come in their direction. Adhering to the advice of the assessment will result in the home receiving the coveted designation of "Wildfire Prepared Home," the recognized standard in the insurance industry.
We are certified in wildfire mitigation by the National Fire Protection Association.
